Food giant Warburtons is to create 90 jobs in Banbury with the opening of a new distribution centre.

The national baker has agreed a 15 year lease on a 83,750 sq ft unit at the Central M40 (CM40) site in the town.

The new distribution facility is expected to be in operation by next June.

A spokesperson for Warburtons said: “This high-quality facility will act as a new consolidation centre to collate our manufactured products for distribution across the south of the UK, which will streamline our distribution network and reduce food delivery miles.

“The unit plays an integral role in supporting our growth aspirations in the region.

“We are investing heavily in our new building and, in doing so, will become a significant contributor to the local economy.”

The lease has been agreed with British Airways Pension Fund (BAPF) and Tritax Symmetry, with Warburtons among a number of tenants lined up for the 70 acre business park.

It is already home to Great Bear Distribution, TVS SCS, Rinkit, Hello Fresh and Prodrive.

Joseph Skinner, associate development director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “CM40 has become a well established business destination attracting a range of high-profile occupiers from manufacturers to third party logistics services.”
