Firefighters rescue man from balcony of flat fire in Banbury

Multiple fire crews from the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a flat fire where they found an occupant in need of rescue. The fire occurred in Jubilee Court, Banbury around 9.15pm.
Upon arrival fire crews were faced with smoke coming from a first-floor flat, and a man in need of rescue from their balcony. Crews rapidly rescued the occupant using a 6-meter ladder.

Hide AdFirefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and tackled the fire using high pressure hose lines.


Due to the quick actions of the fire fighters, the fire was extinguished quickly, preventing its spread throughout the flat.
No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Thames Valley Police.
Approximately 20 fire and rescue personnel attended from three fire engines, two from the Banbury Fire Station and a third from the Hook Norton Fire Station.

Hide AdIncident Commander Simon Piper said: “It’s so important to remember, in the event of a fire in your home, to 'Get out, Stay Out, call 999 & ask for the Fire Service.' Never re-enter the property.
"Check your smoke alarms weekly to ensure they are working."
