Fight is on as housebuilder launches appeal for consent for 40 more homes close to Banburyshire village
Hollings Strategic Land has appealed over Cherwell District Council's refusal to grant permission for the houses on pony paddocks in Berry Hill Road.
The first application in 2019 was for up to 60 homes and Cherwell refused this for a number of reasons. These included the site being outside the built up limits of the village in open countryside, the unsustainable location, the urbanisation of the area and that the plan did not fit with the Adderbury Neighbourhood Plan.

The developer has revised the scheme and reduced the maximum number of homes. They say 35 per cent of the houses would be 'affordable' and five per cent for the elderly. They say the plan offers numerous social, economical and environmental benefits and shows sustainable development.
The appeal documents can be seen here.
West Adderbury has seen a number of housing developments extend the village out towards Milton in recent years and residents have tried to resist more development.
The West Adderbury Residents Association, which has alerted the village to the appeal in a newsletter, recommend those wishing to comment should contact the Cherwell case officer handling the appeal, Matthew Swinford at [email protected]
