This year, Banbury Town Council has approved funding for the event, allowing organisers to book entertainers without needing to charge the public for tickets.

Banbury Town Council leader Shaida Hussain said: “Banbury Town Council is pleased to support the return of Banbury Pride and our local LGBTQ+ community in celebrating inclusion, visibility, and equality.

“Banbury is built on strong values, including respect and diversity, and we are thrilled to play a part in an event that brings people together in such a positive and meaningful way.

“We look forward to this year’s Banbury Pride, and we wish the organisers the best of luck in bringing such a fantastic event to the town.”

Entertainment at this year's Banbury Pride includes the cover band Roughcut Ruby and singer Josh Whitehead, along with a comedian and a DJ.

There will also be children’s games and drama activities from Jemstones as well as face painting.

Inclusive rugby team Northampton Outlaws and Banbury’s own Banbury Belles women’s rugby team will be showing their support for the event.

Banbury Pride co-chair Rebecca Bell said: “I’d like to thank everyone for the support they’ve shown us so far. In particular, I want to thank Banbury Town Council for the grant funding.

“Local businesses Tech Professionals, and The Retail Practice have donated to our funding, as well as community group Friends of Dorothy. We’d love more local businesses to consider funding our event this year, and also consider helping us in 2027.

“Unfortunately, Pride is needed now more than ever as we see the rise of the far right in our country normalise hateful behaviours, including racism, homophobia and transphobia. Banbury is an inclusive, welcoming town in its heart and we’ll be celebrating this on Saturday 30th May. See you there!”
