Victoria visited Ellen at school on Friday to congratulate her at a whole school assembly with her family in attendance.

Runners-up this year included Marcelo, Sylvia and Angus from Queensway School, Cianna from Heyford Park School and Emily from Bure Park Primary School. They received House of Commons themed prizes and their designs feature on the back of the card.

Commenting on her competition, Victoria said: “One of the highlights of the year is my annual Christmas Card competition. I received over 100 designs from local children this year making judging particularly difficult. After much deliberation, I am thrilled to announce Ellen Cherry as this year’s winner with her cherubic angel watercolour painting.”

“I was delighted to meet her last week along with the rest of the school and present her with her prize. I explained to Ellen that when I showed her card to the Prime Minister he commented how professional it looked! Ellen will also visit Parliament in the New Year with her parents which I am really looking forward to.

Head teacher at Cropredy School, Phil Goldsworthy, said: “I am thrilled that Ellen’s design was chosen to be on our MP’s Christmas card. Ellen is a worthy winner and a credit to our school.”

“Ellen’s family were present to see her receive the MP’s congratulations and said they were very proud of her achievement and thrilled to hear that so many people would see Ellen’s design.”
