A Northamptonshire Police Investigation into the death of a man in Middleton Cheney has been handed over to the coroner after it was deemed not to be suspicious.

At around 3.35pm on Wednesday, June 9, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire in Salmons Lane, Middleton Cheney.

Upon arrival they found a shed alight, and after the flames were put out, the body of a man was discovered inside.

A thorough investigation led by the Major Crime Team at Northamptonshire Police has now concluded and detectives are satisfied that there were no suspicious circumstances involved in this man’s death.

As the criminal investigation is now complete, an inquest file will be prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for the Northamptonshire Police said: "Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this exceptionally difficult time."

Police originally arrested a 65-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in connection to the man's death. She was later released with no action by police.
