Residents of Chipping Norton will decorate the town with Pride flags this Saturday (May 18) in preparation for next month’s event.

This year’s Pride event, organised by Chipping Norton Town Council alongside a team of volunteers, is themed on the motto ‘express yourself’.

Organisers hope to get the party started by covering the town in colourful Pride flags this weekend, two weeks prior to the main event kicking off on Saturday June 1.

“The new Chipping Norton Pride team is a strong band of volunteers from diverse aspects of our town coming together to fulfil a vision of recognition of how far the pride movement has come locally and globally.”This Saturday from 10am-12pm, a firefighter crew will make use of a fire engine to install flags, some of which have been designed by Chipping Norton School students and by artist Luke Embden along the town's high street.

The main event on June 1 will take place from 10am-4pm at the town hall and topside car park and will feature speeches, entertainment, music, stalls, food, drink, arts and crafts and WRFM live broadcast.

This will be followed by a ticketed afterparty in the town hall that will run from 7.30-11.30pm and will see live music, burlesque dancers, drag artists and DJs entertain partygoers. For more information, including how to purchase tickets for the afterparty visit:https://www.facebook.com/events/2131389597222659/
