Capital Cash employee braves Arctic Circle to raise cash for Banbury dog charity

The charity, on Blacklocks Hill, specialises in forming partnerships between people living with disabilities and specially trained assistance dogs

A pawnbroking expert and passionate dog-lover is set to raise cash for a self-funded charity, Dogs for Good, by completing a gruelling four-day trek across Finland.

Michael will start the four-day adventure in Hossa, in north-east Finland where temperatures are expected to hit -30 degrees, Michael and the team of nine others will face some of the

harshest conditions in aid of the charity.

Michael will be taking part alongside his walking partner Kelly.

Michael said: “The work Dogs for Good does is simply amazing, and I am more than happy to help out in every way that I can. The charity is completely self-funded, so can only support as many dogs as their donations can fund.

“No doubt there will be some sore feet, and we will definitely deserve a cuppa or two when we get home, but the outcome of what we are achieving is totally worth it. I have first-hand

seen the impact of these dogs, and how they can transform lives, and I’m honoured to be doing my bit.”

After months of rigorous training, the journey will take place between the January 11 and the 16 with the current fundraising total standing at £4,543.

Each fully trained dog costs the charity £20,000, and it relies on volunteers like Michael to fundraise. Michael also volunteers as temporary boarding accommodation for one of the

dogs on the 18-week programmes and has so far housed 10 dogs since he began volunteering with the charity.

Michael added: “Myself and Kelly want to thank everyone for their continued support and encourage those who can to get involved in the charity in any way possible.

"Every little bit counts and makes an amazing difference to people living with disabilities.”
