Breaking - pedestrian hit by car in Banbury supermarket car park

A pedestrian has been struck by a car in the Sainsbury supermarket car park in Banbury, according to onlookers.

The Banbury Guardian has received reports of the incident in which the pedestrian, believed to be a staff member, was hit by a car hurriedly leaving the site.

Several police cars attended the incident. The pedestrian has been taken from the scene in an ambulance.

One eyewitness told us the staff member had been attempting to pursue a shoplifter and had been hit by a vehicle in the process.
