Beckhams have doubled the value of their Banburyshire country home
New research by money.co.uk has revealed what some epic planning permission requests and renovations have done to the value of celebrities' homes. While the Beckhams have doubled the value of the house - Maplewood Barn - they bought for £6m, singer songwriter Ed Sheeran has spent £3m on renovations only to devalue his property by 25 per cent, the website claims.
"Although they have a huge mansion in London, the Beckhams often spend their family time in the Cotswolds where they own their stunning barn conversion - a property which has also welcomed a number of luxurious celebrity parties and has been vastly renovated by the couple," said the website's Salman Haqqi.

The improvements include a football pitch and spectator stand at a cool half million pounds, an outdoor swimming pool costing £40,000, a plunge pool at £27,500 and an Estonian sauna at £4,000.
The most recent additions under way are an underground tunnel with wine cellar and 'super garage' costing an estimated £75.000 and excavation of a lake that will cost an estimated £200,000.
These features have made the value of their home 'skyrocket' by £6m, the website claims. Each part of the renovations is unique but ties in well to the property’s feel and style to create an enchanting countryside home, so it’s 'no surprise that the valuations were so high', Mr Haqqi said.
From Ed Sheeran to Bear Grylls, some of the celebrities' renovations checked out by the website's experts have included pools, a pub, football pitches and even cathedrals. But, some of these expensive renovations have shaved 25 per cent off the value, where others have doubled the value of the home.
