Banburyshire firefighters responded to two unrelated fire calls yesterday, including the rescue of a 9-year-old boy.

Firefighters from the Brackley Fire Station rescued a 9-year-old boy who was locked inside a bathroom at his home yesterday evening, Thursday May 28.

Firefighters with the Northampton Fire and Rescue Service rescued the boy from a locked bathroom in a home in Manor Road, Brackley.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to rescue the boy from the bathroom after the lock mechanism had broken. The incident occurred around 10.55pm.

Firefighters from the Brackley Fire Station also removed a ring which had become stuck on a woman's finger.

The ring stuck on a finger incident happened when a woman presented herself at the station in Brackley. It was removed from her finger using a piece of cotton.

A Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service Spokesperson said: "Our firefighters are well equipped to deal with all manner of emergencies as they are highly trained in all manner of 'rescue' scenarios as well as 'fire' ones."
