A Banburyshire fire station welcomes its newest recruit, Ben Fenemore, who joins his father serving as a local firefighter.

The newest recruit for the Deddington Fire Station, Ben Fenemore, has competed his two week basic training he also passed his 'Safe to ride' Drill last night in front of the station manager.

After passing his basic training Ben said: “I’m excited and looking forward to the new challenges I’ll face while supporting and helping my local community.”

Both Ben and his father, Chris Fenemore, are farmers as well as on-call firefighters, and work full-time on their local family farm and respond to Deddington Fire Station from there.

As an on-call firefighter they receive the same training as a full-time firefighter, but instead of being based at a fire station they are called out to respond to incidents when alerted, day or night to a local station.

Deddington Fire Station along with other stations around the county are recruiting for on-call firefighters.
