Banburyshire brothers raise more than £2,000 for mental health charity with land-rowing challenge

Two Banburyshire brothers completed a land-rowing fundraising challenge to benefit the Young Minds charity.

The brothers, Ayrton Patel, 20, and Elliot Patel, 17, from the village of Syresham near Brackley, completed the land-rowing challenge in the front garden of their home on Saturday May 16.

They completed the 12-hour land-row, splitting sessions between them in one-hour stints.

They passed their £1,500 fundraising target raising £2,255.

Ayrton Patel said: "We can see the effect that Covid-19 will have on mental health amongst young individuals.

"The amazing work that Young Minds do will become even more important.

"We hope with your help and support we can raise awareness for mental health amongst young people and smash our goals."

The brothers have been rowing with their school for the past years. They have rowed at Boston's Head Of The Charles Regatta and the Henley Royal Regatta for their school.

Ayrton added: "Young Minds are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges.

"They aim to make sure children and young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.

"We will be rowing at the front of our house please feel free to come and cheer us on. Social distancing applies."
