Banburyshire animal rescue charity makes final push for lockdown fundraising appeal

Banbury Animal Rescue & Kindness Service (BARKS) launched their StayCATion Appeal in March in a bid to overcome the cancellation of traditional fundraising events over the spring and summer.

They have remained open throughout the lockdown for housing and treating animals, ranging from cats to rabbits and hamsters, and have now begun animal adoptions again on an appointment-only, socially distanced basis.

Chair Ann Collins said: “We've raised just over £4,500 so far through our creative ideas, and the generosity of supporters. As well as donations and online events, we've had a stream of people giving us suitable food and supplies.

“Our small core team of volunteers has worked really hard to keep our income going, both to care for animals and to make sure we're afloat at the end of all this. We just can't afford to take our foot off the pedal.”

The finale to the appeal will be an online raffle, and the charity's first pet portrait competition which will launch in July.

People who make donations through Paypal should use the 'Friends & Family option' on Paypal then there are no fees attached to the donation.
