"At Hanwell Fields, we feel very much a part of our local community and I am delighted that we have been able to support Katharine House Hospice, which does such important work, in this way.”

The Hanwell Frields pupils were part of more than 6,000 students from schools in the Banbury area dressing up as Father Christmas this holiday season to run in a Covid-secure relay challenge to help Katharine House Hospice.

Hannah Lehman, community and events fundraising assistant for Katharine House Hospice, said: “We are absolutely gobsmacked by the total raised at Hanwell Fields Community School in our Santa Schools Relay.

"What an incredible result and testament to how hard the school worked to make it a success! The support shown to us by the staff, children and families of all our participating schools has been nothing short of amazing and we have been overwhelmed by the response to our first ever schools event.

"With so many fundraising events either postponed or cancelled this year we have seen a significant drop in donations, so it means more to us than ever that our local school communities have supported us in this way.”
