The market will re-open from this Saturday May 23.

A statement from Cherwell District Council, who manages the Banbury Market, said: "Brian and Rocky our fruit and veg traders, Nash's Bakery and Nick from Curds & Whey will return to Banbury Market this Saturday 23rd May.

"Then from Thursday 28th May we will have our street food traders back."

The market will be on slightly restricted hours from 9am – 3pm and measures will be in place to ensure social distancing is enforced.

There will also be hand washing facilities, as well as waste collection provided by Cherwell.

Currently government guidelines only allow essential food traders for outdoor markets, therefore they won’t be able to welcome back any other traders until the guidelines change.

Both Bicester and Kidlington Market Associations will also be introducing a similar scheme for phasing in fresh food traders from Friday May 22 in Sheep Street and High Street respectively.

If anyone has been having your fruit and veg delivered by Brian and Denise from BC Fruits then they will still be offering this fantastic service every Friday.

To place an order call Denise on 07464815733.

Deliveries on orders over £20 are free, whilst there will be a £2 charge for any orders under £20. Text or call Denise for any enquiry relating to this service.

A spokesperson for the Cherwell District Council said: "We are asking the stallholders to take orders in advance online or by telephone, and to pre-pack orders, in order to limit face-to-face time in the market."
