Banbury firefighters among multiple crews who respond to serious two-vehicle collision on M40

Three crews, including firefighters from Banbury responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on the M40 near Bicester today, Monday November 9.

Firefighters from the Banbury, Bicester and Kidlington fire stations responded to the collision. The collision occurred around 11am between junctions nine and 10 on the M40. The collision led to the temporary closure of the southbound carriageway of the motorway.

Firefighters extricated two casualties into the care of South Central Ambulance Service using hydraulic cutting equipment and made the scene safe. The Thames Valley Police roads policing unit are investigating the incident.

The collision led to delays for much of the afternoon in area of junctions nine and 10 along the M40.
