Cadets and volunteers from Banbury Jordan Detachment usually spent their Saturdays every year helping support the local Royal British Legion team in raising money for the Poppy Appeal. But in the age of Covid-19, however, selling poppies in person was not an option.

Lt Andrew Procter, who supervises the Banbury Jordan Detachment, said: "We set about planning a sponsored 'Long Stand.' Cadets and instructors would take it in turns to conduct a 'watch' in their own gardens in uniform. The total duration would be 11 hours (to fit in with the RBL 11/11 challenge). We shared our poster in the town centre and on social media and managed to raise over £1000."

The 'Long Stand' event took place on Saturday November 7. Anyone who would like to contribute to their Poppy Appeal can use the following JustGiving web link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/andrew-procter12

Cadets also observed the two minute silence at 11am on Remembrance Sunday. Cadets and instructors were in their uniforms and took part in their own personal parades in their gardens.
