When Home Manager Alexandra Grindle and her team discovered Sylvia’s wish for a celebratory date with her husband, they made it their mission to provide the happy couple with a romantic afternoon for two.

Eric, who is a volunteer at Lake House, and Sylvia enjoyed a private dining experience in one of the home’s lounges where they found their table decorated with rose petals.

Their favourite lunch of fish and chips was made extra special with glasses of bubbly and heart-shaped chocolates, followed by a celebratory cake baked by the home’s head chef.

The second marriage for both Sylvia and Eric, the couple met and married in the early eighties and between them have four grown-up children.

Ms Grindle said: “We were absolutely thrilled to be able to help Sylvia and Eric celebrate their anniversary by arranging a romantic date for them.

"We love being able to grant residents’ wishes at Lake House and this is a perfect example of the little thoughtful touches that make experiences extra special for those who live with us at the home.”
