Olive Lynham gave herself a special treat for her 102nd birthday this week – employing a cleaner to help do the chores at her Cropredy home every week from now on.
Mrs Lynham, who celebrated her birthday at a party at the Cluster Care Day Centre (celebrating its 20th anniversary), still lives in her own home.
Friends gave a specially adapted 100th birthday card as 102 cards do not exist.
When her father died from an industrial accident, her mother was left to work and bring up three children alone in considerable poverty.
Olive married Bert Lynham as war broke out and moved to Banbury from Hounslow in 1968. Bert died in 1986 and Mrs Lynham moved to Cropredy in 1988.
