New training facility and upgrades for Rye Hill

Rye Hill Golf Club has undergone a quarter of a million pound makeover, improving golf course management and upgrading the clubhouse.

Owner Jonathan Spencer has splashed out £280,000 on the Milcombe club which has included cosmetic changes to the clubhouse along with a restructuring of the club’s golf fees and the introduction of an indoor teaching facility.

The lion’s share of the investment, some £200,000, has been spent on new grounds management equipment including a new green mower, new fairway mower and a new rough cutter. A new fleet of golf buggies emblazoned with the club’s logo have also been added. Inside the venue some £80,000 has been spent on the clubhouse kitchen and a makeover of the clubhouse itself.

Opening this month will be the all-weather, indoor training facility which will be run by PGA pro David Poolton.

Using the latest in swing analysis technology and a powerful simulator, the training facility will benefit golfers from the novice to tour pros.

The course has undergone some four months of careful maintenance which saw new drainage added and all the bunkers refurnished.
