Banbury’s smallest library received some fresh stock on Friday when Sir Tony Baldry MP added his support to one of the town’s newest attractions.
The phone box is just outside St John’s Church in South Bar and has been doing brisk business as its fame has spread.
Sir Tony said: “I think it’s an interesting idea for people to share books they have read and no longer want – and it’s a good use of a red telephone box.”
The donated books are free for people to take, keep or return for someone else to enjoy. It was started in the summer by somebody who wanted to spread a little happiness – but who wants to keep their identity a secret.
