Adderbury’s vibrant community came together in the wet weather on Saturday for its popular Party in the Park.

Held every year on the Luck Plackett Playing Field, the rain clouds threatened to spoil the day of fun, but the brave music lovers still came in their droves to enjoy live music throughout the night and enjoy a feast of different food.

Among the bands playing were Kate and the Mooncats, who got this year’s event up and running at 12.30pm, Cosmosis followed at 1.30pm before The Next Hot Thing, Zurich and Two Crows performed during the afternoon.

In the evening Two Crows, Young Causeway, Alphabet Backwards and Shooter all got the crowd going as the evening wore on before The Meanies came on stage at 10.20 as the headline act.

There was also an acoustic stage separate to the main stage, with Ellie Sian, GospelBell, Mollie Davies, Sam Martin and Fiddlebop providing the music.

As well as music there was a raffle with great prizes donated by Banbury businesses as well as Oxford United Football Club, Hook Norton Brewery and Hertford College in Oxford.

Food lovers were also spoilt for choice with a variety of traders offering a selection of hot food, including funfair food such as candyfloss, authentic Caribbean food from M&E Caribbean Catering and Rico’s Pizza Shack serving up authentic pizzas in a wood burning oven.

Other stalls on the day were from Katharine House Hospice, face painting from Wizard Face/Body Art and Adderbury WI selling teas and coffees.

Linda Leslie, chairman of the organising committee, said: “The weather was not great but it was a brilliant day and we have already had some really positive comments. We had a few downpours but people just got into cover and danced away. People really enjoy an event where they can get together whatever their age and enjoy a range of different music.”
