Miniature flags with anti-cuts message appear on lawn in front of council’s offices

Around a hundred flags with anti-cuts slogans were planted on the lawn outside CDC’s offices at Bodicote House early in the afternoon.

Each flag, around a foot high, featured messages including: “Oxi end austerity now!” and “Save the many not the money £££”.

The protest is thought to be one of several planned throughout Banburyshire today.

Thames Valley Police confirmed they were called to CDC offices at midday after reports of antisocial behaviour. No arrests were made.

A spokesperson for CDC said: “A single individual staged a protest at about midday today, in relation to the Chancellor’s Budget, on the lawn outside the council’s Bodicote office, which resulted in the police attending. No council services were affected.”

Today Chancellor Osborne revealed plans to cut spending on welfare and a raft of tax increases as well as promising a sizable boost to the minimum wage. It is the first Tory budget since 1996.
