Banbury has received a significant investment boost with the opening of a new McDonald’s restaurant on the new Gateway development.
The restaurant is now the third in the town and opened its doors for business for the first time on October 28, creating more than 70 new jobs.
The official opening celebrations for the restaurant was held last Saturday with members of Banbury United Juniors, who has benefitted from the McDonald’s FA Charter Standard Kit Scheme.
McDonald’s franchisee Jane Blackwell, who operates the restaurant, said: “We’re delighted to be investing in the local community and bringing 70 new jobs to the Banbury area. The new design of the restaurant will provide an even greater level of convenience to our customers which we’re very excited about.”
The new restaurant will feature one of McDonald’s new state-of-the-art designs and offer digital menu boards, as well as tablet computers on some restaurant tables for customers to enjoy while they dine.
It will be one of the first McDonald’s in the area to offer customers the option to use either the traditional till services or new innovative self-order kiosks, allowing them to browse the entire menu and check out the nutritional information of each meal at the same time.
Once customers have completed their order, they can pay swiftly by card or contactless, and then go straight to a designated area of the counter to pick up their order.
In the kitchens, new layouts and increased technology means McDonald’s iconic products will be made specially to order for customers, with every burger and wrap freshly prepared.
Speaking further about her investment, Mrs Blackwell added: “We’re very excited that the new restaurant has finally opened after all the hard work and build up.”
All staff employed at the restaurant will have access to McDonald’s industry leading training and development programmes as well as the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications ranging from adult certificates in Maths and English to Level 2 apprenticeships.
