A 22-year-old man sustained a cut to his face following an assault in an alleyway between Sinclair Avenue and Evenlode in Banbury.

It happened at about 5.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) when the victim was walking with two friends. He bumped into the offender where there was a brief verbal exchange before the offender reached into his pocket and assaulted the victim.

He is currently at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford receiving treatment.

The offender is mixed race, aged between 19 and 20 and about 6ft tall. He was wearing a dark green coat with the hood up and may have been wearing a black beanie style hat or could have had dark hair. He was possibly wearing a dark blue tracksuit.

The second offender is Asian, 5ft tall and wearing a t-shirt with a hooded top and jeans.

Investigating officer PC Richard Blewitt of Banbury Local CID, said: “Sinclair Avenue is a populated part of Banbury and due to the time of the incident it is highly likely that members of the public would have been returning from work.

“Thames Valley Police will not tolerate violent crime in our community and officers are doing everything they can to establish the circumstances of this incident and find the person responsible.”
