Man assaulted in Banbury’s High Street

A 21-year-old man needed hospital treatment for a broken nose and fractured eye socket after being assaulted in Banbury’s High Street on Saturday.

At about 2.20pm the victim left the Atic nightclub on Butcher’s Row and walked towards the High Street. Two men then verbally abused him as he walked past Greggs bakery.

One of the offenders then punched the victim in the face, knocking him to the floor. The victim required treatment at Banbury’s Horton General Hospital.

The offenders were both white and in their late teens or early twenties.

Det Con Richard Lewis from the patrol team based at Banbury Police Station, said: “This appears to be an isolated incident and we are appealing for any information.

“If you were in the area in the early hours of Saturday morning and have any details about this incident or saw anything suspicious please get in touch via the non emergency 101 enquiry centre.”
