Man assaulted in Banbury town centre

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an altercation between two men resulted in one being assaulted in Banbury.

At approximately 5.40pm Sunday May 15 a 42-year-old man was assaulted outside the Yorkshire Bank on Banbury’s High Street. The victim was hit causing him to fall to the floor motionless, the offender then rode off on his bicycle in the direction of Church Passage.

The offender is described as a white man, wearing a green top and possibly shorts.

Investigating officer, PC Pete Butt-Gow from Banbury police station, said; “ We are appealing to witnesses who may have information regarding this assault, four to five young men are believed to have checked on the victim as he lay on the floor. We are keen to talk to them as they may hold information about the incident. If you have any information which could help us with our enquiries please contact me through the non-emergency 101 enquiry centre number.”
