M40 hit by lorry fire past Gaydon

Emergency services were called after a lorry caught fire along the M40 just past Gaydon this morning.

Firefighters were called to the motorway between junctions 11 and 12 at around 5.30am on Tuesday.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue crews found the cab of a lorry - which had been travelling southbound - completely ablaze and separated from the trailer.

A spokesperson said as a result damage was minimised. Fire engines from Fenny Compton and Leamington Spa were sent and hose reels were used. 

Nobody is thought to have been injured at the scene but congestion on the road continued through the morning.
