Roads in and around Banbury’s town centre are currently experiencing heavy delays following today’s earlier crash on the M40 in which a driver sadly died.

Traffic is backing up on Southam Road, Hennef Way and other roads leading to the junction 11 after police placed a diversion following the crash at 11.20am.

A van and a lorry were involved in the collision, where the driver of the van died. A passenger in the van was taken to hospital with ‘life-changing’ injuries.

Motorists are now being diverted away from the motorway and on to the B4100 Warwick Road towards junction 12 at Gaydon.

Police added that the diversion was likely to be in place for the next four hours, and that drivers should avoid the area if possible.
