A car has left the road and collided with the Greedy Goose Pub on the A44 causing structural damage.

At around 8.30am on Friday, September 30, a car driving along the A44 between Chipping Norton and Morton on the Marsh left the road crashing into the public house. Fire crews from Chipping Norton Fire Station were immediately called and arrived on the scene within minutes.

The driver was out of the vehicle and being cared for by pub staff and had only received bruising as a result of the crash.

The impact of the car had caused an external wall to be pushed into the kitchen, but fortunately no member of the kitchen staff was hurt in the collision and no members of the public were in this part of the building at the time of the impact.

Fire crews set about ensuring that the vehicle was safe and wasn’t in danger of catching fire.

Station manager Dave Bray, who attended the incident said “The driver had a very lucky escape, managing to avoid serious injury having driven into a substantial stone built building.”
