Let’s get ready for rubbish

Residents are being encouraged to do their bit to show they love where they live by signing up to Cherwell District Council’s Big Community Clean Up.

The annual event encourages organisations such as schools, scouts and brownies and parish councils to take part in a blitz of their area.

Since it launched in 2004, the event has cleared 32 tonnes of rubbish from across Cherwell.

This year’s Big Community Clean Up will take place from April 10 - 27.

People of all ages are encouraged to get involved in the event although young children must remain supervised.

The council will support groups taking part by providing free waste and recycling sacks and cotton gloves.

Litter pickers and high visibility vests can also be lent out.

For more information on how the scheme runs or to sign up email customer.service@cherwell-dc.gov.uk or call 01295 227003.
