The foundations are being dug for Cherwell District Council’s latest Build! project on a disused patch of land in Banbury.
Earlier this month contractors FSG Property Services, based in Milton Keynes, arrived on site at The Causeway in Grimsbury to begin work on a detached three bedroom family home.
The property will be completed to a shell standard with all of the external work signed off. The new owners will be able to customise the interior to their own taste and save money by carrying out the works themselves.
Chris Stratford, Cherwell District Council’s head of regeneration and housing, said: “Cherwell’s Build! project is all about creating housing opportunities for our residents in desirable locations while preserving green spaces wherever possible.
“By offering this property for sale it will not only provide one family with a unique opportunity to purchase a home that they can fit out themselves, but as homeowners they will take pride in a piece of land which had otherwise been forgotten.”
The property will offer a cloakroom, lounge/ dining area and separate kitchen while upstairs there will be two double bedrooms, one single bedroom and a family bathroom.
Work on the shell is expected to be completed by mid-July and the property is being offered for outright sale and is due to be marketed shortly. Interested applicants need to be registered with the Build! scheme. Visit www.cherwell.gov.uk/build or call 01295 221615.
