Labour fills empty seats in Banbury’s Grimsbury and Castle

Shaida Hussian and Claire Bell of the Labour Party have both been elected as councillors for Banbury’s Grimsbury and Castle ward following a by-election yesterday (Thursday).

The by-election took place to fill the space left by former town and district councillor Ann Bonner, who died in August.

Miss Hussain was elected as district councillor for the ward with 781 votes ahead of Tony Mepham of the Conservative Party on 661 and in the by-election for the ward’s town council seat, Ms Bell received 787 votes ahead of the Conservative Party’s Azmat Khaliq on 638.
