The Katharine House Hospice’s annual Midnight Walk celebrates its 10th year on Saturday June 25, and is aiming to register the largest number of walkers in the event’s history.
The previous record, set in 2009, saw 743 people participate, raising over £115,000 for the hospice.
So far, 550 people have registered for this year’s walk with the deadline for entry still two weeks away.
Chris Higgins, communications officer at the hospice, said: “Whether you’re walking for fun, for fitness, or in memory of a family or friend, the Walk is a great night out with a fantastic atmosphere.
“The funds we raise from the Midnight Walk ensure we can continue to provide care to patients in local villages and towns as well as here at the hospice”.
Entry costs £20 and the closing date to register is Thursday, June 23. The fee covers the costs of running the event and walkers will receive a T-shirt to wear on the night.
Everyone taking part will also receive a drink and bacon roll after the walk.
