Washing cars in the rain was not the original plan but staff at Karcher UK in Banbury made the most of the water - along with its own pressure washers and no small amount of elbow grease - to raise a handsome amount of money for the 2015 Children in Need telethon appeal.
Staff at the Beaumont Road works donned wet weather gear and were armed with sponges and car shampoo to wash vehicles in return for a donation to the annual charity fundraising bid. The teams raised a magnificent £1,750 for the appeal. “The day started out slow due to the grim weather, but gained traction towards the end and we managed to raise a spectacular £1750,” said sales director Craig McKay. “The enthusiasm of everyone who took part helped not only in raising this amount but making it a fun experience for such a wonderful cause!”
The 2015 telethon raised a record-breaking £37.1 million.
