Jewellery stolen in village burglaries

Police are appealing for witnesses after two homes were burgled in Clifton and Deddington.

Between Monday June 6 and Friday June 10 burglars smashed the rear window of a property on Walnut Close, Clifton, and broke in. Once inside the offenders stole a safe containing passports, documents, a gold Tasmanian chain necklace, pearl earrings and necklace, Chanel Number 19 perfume and silver earrings.

Some time between Thursday June 9 and Saturday June 11 a property on Clifton Road, Deddington also had its rear window smashed and was burgled. Once inside thieves stole a French silver cutlery set in a black leather case, 30 commemorative coins, jewellery boxes, an 18in silver rope necklace and a necklace with a green and black marbled medallion.

Investigating officer, Det Con Rebecca Sewell from Force CID at Banbury police station, said: “We are appealing to anyone with information or who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area at this time, we are linking these two burglaries due to their MO and geographical location.

“If you believe you have seen any of the stolen property or have been offered any for sale please get in contact with us via the non emergency 101 enquiry centre.”
