From infantryman to author for Banbury man
Entitled Bombs for Breakfast, the 340 page, no-holds barred exposé of life in the army and what happens to those men after their careers end, was released last weekend.
Almost 60 people gathered at the Three Conies in Thorpe Mandeville to show Gary support and purchase signed copies of the paperback.

Hide AdGary said: “I took 40 books with me which were all sold and signed by the end of the signing.
“I even had a few guests turn up from the charity Deptherapy who had travelled from Windsor and another couple from High Wicombe.”
Gary joined the army as an infantryman in the winter of 2007, he finished his training top of his platoon and was presented with the Baker Rifle as recognition.
After completing his training Gary was sent to Afghanistan in 2009 where an IED left him blind in one eye. He was medically discharged from the army in 2010.

Hide AdIn the subsequent few years after his discharge Gary struggled with alcohol and drugs and was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Since early 2014 Gary has turned his life around becoming a trustee and board member of the charity Deptherapy, running the London Marathon and featuring on the BBC documentary ‘Amazing Humans’.
