Immigration officers raid firms in Bicester and Banbury

Sixteen Vietnamese nationals were arrested for various immigration offences after officers visited nail bars in Banbury and Bicester yesterday, Tuesday.

Acting on intelligence, immigration enforcement officers, with assistance from Thames Valley Police, went to Nail Envi and Superior Nails (both in Parsons Street, Banbury); BC Nail Spa, in Market Place, Banbury; Dream Nails, at George Street, Banbury; and Gold Star Nail Bar, at Crown Walk, Bicester at around noon.

Officers found 16 Vietnamese nationals working illegally across the five businesses.

Each business was served with a civil penalty referral notices in relation to illegal workers. The notices warn that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker found will be imposed unless the employer can demonstrate that appropriate right-to-work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document confirming permission to work.
