Residents in Helmdon have been getting into the Christmas spirit as they turned their village into a real life advent calendar.
Those taking part decorated a window in their property in the Northamptonshire village in the build up to Christmas, with one being unveiled every evening and being on show from 5pm until 9pm.
The idea was put forward by village resident Ann Nettem after her brother mentioned a similar idea that was done in his home village of Harby in Leicestershire.
She and Jenny Overson then proceeded to start in Helmdon and Mrs Nettem said: “After hearing my brother say his village was doing it I thought it was such a lovely idea for us to do for Helmdon. We put out the idea and we had lots of people volunteer to decorate their windows.
“It is the first time we have done anything like this and had 26 windows altogether, with two being lit up on two separate days. It has been a fantastic thing to do and the support we have had has been lovely.”
Those taking part in the village also include the primary school and to view all the windows visit www.helmdon.com
