A woman has today (Thursday) been charged with attempted murder following an investigation into a incident at Banbury’s Horton General Hospital which was reported to police on October 16.

Julia Knight, aged 55, of Sycamore Drive, Banbury has been charged with attempt murder by Thames Valley Police.

The charge relates to an incident where the condition of an 80-year-old woman, who was a patient at the hospital, deteriorated unexpectedly.

A subsequent police investigation found evidence to suggest that the victim had been administered a potentially lethal dose of an un-prescribed medication.

She received medical attention and has since been discharged from the hospital.

Knight, who is not an employee of Horton General Hospital, has been remanded in custody to appear at Banbury Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday).
