Hard works pays off as fashion designer from Farthinghoe has collection shown in Paris

Beste Bragg offers a bespoke haute couture bridal and evening wear service from her atelier based in the Northamptonshire village, and is going from strength to strength since she was in the French capital on March 5.

Mrs Bragg said: “We arrived on the Saturday and prepared everything and it went really smoothly, it was a very good night. This was the first time I went to Paris and it was all very professional, there was a lot of attention on social media and people there are very into their fashion and really like beautiful pieces - they do not put things together by accident.

“I was at Oxford Fashion Week last year and it was great because it gives you an idea about what it is. It’s a big world and very competitive so you have to work really hard doing long hours. But everything is going really well and I’m taking in lots of orders.”

Mrs Bragg’s collection at the Paris Fashion Week included items made with Linton Tweed based up in Carlisle and who also manufacture with Chanel.

She studied fashion design in her native Turkey before moving to the UK and undertaking Creative Textile Design i n Central St Martin’s and Customised Pattern Cutting at London’s College of Fashion with Dennic Chunman Lo.

She also has designed and made fashion accessories for a London boutique, successfully ran her own children’s clothing line and made bespoke evening gowns for private clients.

And now a British citizen, Mrs Bragg has paid tribute to Farthinghoe as she continues to make a name for herself in the fashion industry.

She said: “It is lovely to be living in such an inspiring place and working in this village. When you go to a city it gives me such a boost and makes me want to work even harder. I have some really loyal customers, some from as far as the USA, but am really proud to be part of a small village.”

And the future is looking bright for Mrs Bragg, who was in London’s Sloane Square this week putting on a pop-up shop showcasing some of her collections, where she took orders on made-to-measure pieces ready to be made.

She has also unveiled her online shop which launched on Sunday and allows customers from across the world to see for themselves the kind of work she is doing in the village.
