Half term is just around the corner and parents are being urged to book their children a place at Cherwell District Council’s holiday hubs.

Booking lines are now open for the hubs, which have proved a popular way for parents to keep children happy and healthy over the break. The four days of holiday fun run from Tuesday May 31 until Friday June 3 and are held in Banbury and Bicester. Activities include everything from arts and crafts to sports and games. Also time-tabled in are special activities which will change from day to day.

Councillor George Reynolds, deputy leader for Cherwell, said: “It’s no secret that the hubs are one of the district’s most popular ways to learn, make friends and have fun. Uptake has increased in recent years and we expect to sell-out this time around. I encourage parents to book their children in now to avoid disappointment.”

He added: “The hubs are popular with anyone looking to keep their child entertained and active while off school. All sessions are run by qualified, DBS-cleared coaches, so parents can feel safe in the knowledge that their youngsters are being well looked-after.”

Coaches involved in the hubs are linked to local clubs so children finding new and exciting activities can continue with them after the half term break.

Cost of placements is £13.95 for the 8.45am to 3pm slots and £17.95 for the 8.45am to 5.00pm slot. At the time of writing there were 15 places remaining at North Oxfordshire Academy in Banbury and 25 still to be claimed at the Cooper School Sport Facility in Bicester.
