Banbury & District Samaritans ran their first charity golf day on Thursday at Cherwell Edge Golf Club near Chacombe to help raise funds for their office in Albert Street.
The event was well attended with 60 golfers enjoying the wonderful weather during their rounds of golf.
Donations from various businesses and organisations including Banbury Aerials, Bower & Bailey Solicitors, King Woolley Estate Agents, Finders Keepers, Stanbra Powell Estate Agents, Spratt Endicott and Whitley Stimpson helped make the event a success.
Marilena Kearns who organized the Golf Day said: “The atmosphere was wonderful and everyone seemed to have a great time, of course the weather helped and I would like to thank everyone who was involved in helping make the event the success it was.
“The funds raised from the day was more than £1,800 which will go towards helping keep the Banbury Branch of Samaritans open.
Running costs for the branch are in excess of £30,000 per year and this is just one of the many fund raising events held each year for this great charity. We hope to repeat a Charity Golf Day next year !”
The Winners of the fourball game were Spratt Endicott with 2nd place to Sultans of Swing and 3rd to Banbury Aerials. Longest Drive was won by Gareth Hayward from Bower & Bailey and Nearest the Pin by Trevor Day from Spratt Endicott.
