Great turnout for charity darts night in Banbury

A charity darts competition held in Banbury for Breast Cancer Research has raised more than £500.

Paul Webb organised the event to support his sister-in-law Linda Flower after she was diagnosed with cancer last year, and more than 100 people turned up at the General Foods Sports and Social Club on Sunday.

Sixty-six people took part in the knockout-format competition with Chris Howse and Mick Parsons going head to head in a tight final shootout. The three-leg competition was won by Mr Howse who had an impressive 138 finish to take top prize.

Pauline Cockle also won a trophy for being the most successful ladies player, beating off some tough competition.

Mr Webb said: “We had a great response to this event. We had a raffle with over 30 prizes and 4 raffle books were sold. Tony Toole donated a dart board signed by Keith Deller and this was auctioned off with a successful bid of £55.

“Stuart Tysoe did an amazing job of running things on the night and Sue and Linda Prescott supplied some lovely food, all of which was eaten and enjoyed very quickly!

“We would like to thank GF Club for all they did for us and of course everyone for turning up and supporting such a wonderful cause. Due to demand we are hoping to run another tournament in June for the same charity and hopefully at the same venue.”
