Grant sees village hall step closer to opening

The insulation grant of £5,000 has been provided by the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment (TOE2) and Grundon Waste Management through the Landfill Communities Fund.

With work due to be completed by late June, the insulation of the building will not only help reduce energy bills but also provide a much cosier meeting place for the local community.

Karen Woolley, chair of TOE2, said: “It is inspiring to see a community making a difference to their local area and raising the necessary funds to build the new village hall.

“We are delighted to provide a grant for insulating the new hall, increasing its energy efficiency and making it a more pleasant environment for users.”

The last few months has seen the village work together to raise funds by villagers both pledging money and time and skills to help with the rebuild of the village hall.

Phase one started early in September which will ensure the structure of the building is in place.

Phase two will follow next month with villagers again pledging their services to ensure they have a village hall fit for purpose, and has been made possible with additional grants being awarded by Oxfordshire Community Foundation, Garfield Weston, HDH Wills, St Michael’s and All Saints’ Charities, The A.H. Lynall Foundation, Sandford Trust and The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation.
