Aspiring young chefs in Banbury have only seven days left to apply for the Rotary Young Chef Competition.

The popular event sees young people create three culinary dishes, with the first round heat taking place at Banbury and Bicester College on Broughton Road on Tuesday, January 16 2016.

The winner will then go on to the regional final where if they are successful, they will compete in the national final in Leicester on April 23, 2016.

The competition is opened to anyone aged between 11 and 17 on August 31 and aims to encourage young people to learn how to cook a healthy meal, develop food presentation skills, consider food hygiene issues, develop organisational and planning skills and develop an ability to cope in a demanding situation.
