Fundraisers make this year the tenth Midnight Walk for Banbury's Katharine House Hospice
Sallie Connery and Connie Robertson Sallie Connery, Connie Robertson, Katie Jackson and Adrian Smith will join several hundred others trekking around the countryside on Saturday, June 25. The walk celebrates its tenth year in 2016.
Ms Connery said: “The event is great fun, it’s a brilliant opportunity for people to get together, dress up in wacky clothes and raise funds which we know will go directly to patient care.”
This year’s event has a silver theme with walkers asked to wear as many sparkles as possible to celebrate Katharine House Hospice’s 25th year of providing specialist palliative care in north Oxfordshire and parts of Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
The midsummer, midnight walk has become the hospice’s biggest fundraiser of the year, raising over £700,000 in the last nine years.
Sheila Norton, Katharine House Events Fundraiser said: “ It costs over £10,000 to run the hospice every day, only a third of which comes from the Government.
“The rest must be raised through trust income and fundraising and the local community really gets behind us”.
To book a place on the 2016 Midnight Walk go to www.khh.org.uk or phone 01295 816484.
An early bird entry fee is available for people signing up before April 30. The fee covers the costs of running the event and walkers will receive a t-shirt to wear on the night. Everyone gets refreshments.
They will receive a drink and bacon roll after the walk. The hospice asks for a minimum of £25 sponsorship from each walker or £50 per family.
