There was plenty of fun for all the family to be had as Banbury Market relaunched with a new look on Saturday, May 23 as part of a national campaign.
Sharp-eyed shoppers had the chance to browse the newly redecorated stalls to the sound of live jazz and a one man band while community groups, charities and entrepreneurs also benefited with the chance to raise valuable funds by taking on free stalls available on the day. The event also offered market goers the chance to see a balloon artist and a caricaturist.
The market relaunch was part of the national Love Your Local Market campaign, which ran until May 27 and encouraged shoppers to support local market traders like Maxine Lloyd and Tone Ashfield, who run Qwerky Clocks (pictured).
Banbury’s Market moved to the pedestrianised area of the historic Market Place earlier this year, a controversial change which freed up much-needed parking for shoppers and stall holders.
The market is currently managed by Sketts Events. It runs every Thursday and Saturday at Banbury Market Place from 9am to 4.30pm.
