Thames Water will be carrying out essential repairs on a sewer pipe under Middleton Road in Banbury to prevent customers suffering the misery of sewer flooding.

Starting on Monday, February 15, the work is anticipated to take three weeks and will involve teams digging down three metres to reach the damaged pipe.

Middleton Road will remain closed to through traffic between Duke Street and Mckeevor Place for the duration of the work, but homes and businesses will still be accessible. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

Ian Smith, Thames Water’s project manager, said: “We’re sorry for the disruption our work will cause. We appreciate it’s a busy road, but this is essential work to prevent homes and businesses suffering from sewer flooding.

“We will be working seven days a week to get the repair completed as quickly and as safely as we can.”

Public transport routes will be affected, but still running in the area - Stagecoach will be posting details of the revised bus routes at www.stagecoachbus.com.
